Benjamin Franklin

Benjamin Franklin was born in Boston, Massachusetts on January 17,1706. He attended the Boston Latin School, but at 10 years old was taken out to work with his father.

He grew up in the Bay Colony with his father, Josiah Franklin, who was a soap and candle maker. Ben was the 15th out of 17 children. His dad had 7 children with his first wife, Anne Child and 10 children with his second wife, Abiah Folger

The Franklin family were all Puritans and attended the Old South Church in Boston. He was baptized in 1706.

In 1723, he moved in with John Read, who's daughter Deborah, later becomes his wife in 1730. But, in 1727 or 1728, Franklin has an affair with a woman that results in the birth of his son William.

During the American Revolution, he served in the second Continental Congress and helped draft the Declaration of Independence in 1776.

Franklin's primary goal in the Revolution was to obtain French aid for the United States. Benjamin Franklin is best known as one of the Founding Fathers who drafted the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution.

On April 17, he dies in Philadelphia at the age of 84. There was a funeral held for over 20,00 mourners at the Christ Church Burial Ground.
