Pierre du Pont

Pierre Samuel du Pont was born on January 15, 1870 in Wilmington, Delaware. He graduated from MIT in 1890 and later became an assistant superintendent at Eleutherian Mills. Currency

Currency: 100 Dollar Bill

1. A hologram-like 3D security ribbon woven into the paper
has bell icons that change to 100s when you move the bill.
2. When you hold the note steady, both the inkwell and the bell
inside of it are copper. Move the bill, and the bell turns green.

3. To the right of the big portrait of Ben Franklin is a smaller, faint
portrait watermark. You can detect it when you hold the bill up to light.

4. A security thread imprinted with USAs and 100s is located to the
left of big Ben's head. It can be detected when it's put under a UV light.

5. The numeral 100 in the bottom right-hand corner of the front
of the note changes from copper to green when you move it.

6. Just in case you don't know what kind of cash you're handling,
there's now a giant gold 100 on the back of the bill.

 7. There are a couple of micro-printed words located on the hundred. "The United States of America" sits on ol' Ben's collar, "USA 100" surrounds the portrait watermark, and "One hundred USA" appears next to a golden quill.

8. Franklin's jacket feels rough to the touch; there's
raised printing all over the bill so it feels like a legit piece
of officially issued currency. And so that it's harder to copy.

Amendment One: Freedom of Speech

AMENDMENT I
FREEDOM OF RELIGION, SPEECH, PRESS,
 ASSEMBLY, AND PETITION

What is it?
Passed by Congress: 25 September 1789 Ratified: 15 December 1791 Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Why was it written?
The First Amendment was written because at America’s inception, citizens demanded a guarantee of their basic freedoms. The First Amendment allows citizens to express opinions and views. It was intended to ensure a free exchange of ideas even if the ideas are unpopular.
Freedom of Religion: The First Amendment's free exercise clause allows a person to hold whatever religious beliefs he or she wants, and to exercise that belief by attending religious services, praying in public or in private, proselytizing or wearing religious clothing, such as yarmulkes or headscarves. Also included in the free exercise clause is the right not to believe in any religion, and the right not to participate in religious activities.

Why is it important?
The First Amendment is one run-on sentence that enshrines five of the most essential liberties
guaranteed by American democracy: the freedom of religion, the freedom of speech, the freedom of the press, the freedom of assembly, and the right to petition the government. The First Amendment is the core of all civil rights and civil liberties law in the United States.

How is this involved with today?

Violence erupted in the St. Louis area overnight, leading to more than 80 arrests, as protesters fired more than 100 gunshots and burned and looted as many as 25 buildings and vandalized police cars in Ferguson, Mo., after a grand jury did not indict a white police officer who shot and killed an 18-year-old black man in August, authorities said Tuesday morning.

The Franklin family were all Puritans and attended the Old South Church in Boston. He was baptized in 1706.

In 1723, he moved in with John Read, who's daughter Deborah, later becomes his wife in 1730. But, in 1727 or 1728, Franklin has an affair with a woman that results in the birth of his son William.

During the American Revolution, he served in the second Continental Congress and helped draft the Declaration of Independence in 1776.

Franklin's primary goal in the Revolution was to obtain French aid for the United States. Benjamin Franklin is best known as one of the Founding Fathers who drafted the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution.
